About Our Company

Pacific Coast Theatre Company was formed by Andrew McAtee, Gustavo Garcia, Sarah-Gates, Nicholas Tonkin, Christopher Lorenz, Jared Hanson, and Eric Silagi.  The founding members of PCTC set forth to from a community theatre the likes of which Mira Mesa had never seen before.

On Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009, PCTC was little more than a nameless idea, but nonetheless the founding members met at an undisclosed location, to discuss the details of what would soon become their idea of a community theatre company, each member brought numerous ideas to the table, and the meeting lasted several hours, but through this painstaking process every detail was ironed out, from their company mission to their company structure, that is except for their name.

It was not until two days later that the members went through the rigorous process of naming this cornucopia of creative ideas.  Hundreds of names were submitted, but slowly they were sifted through until, alas Pacific Coast Theatre Company was born.

In the beginning stages PCTC, assisted and still continues to assist local companies and productions and worked several events, by lending a helping hand in the Southern California Community, some of which include;

  • Both the 2009 & 2010 San Diego Unified School District’s Intern Commencement Ceremony
  • Both the 2009,2010, and 2011 Taste of Mira Mesa
  • Mira Mesa High School Drama Department’s 2009 Production of “Hello Dolly!”
  • The 2009 MMHS vs. PCTC Improv Show
  • Mira Mesa High School Drama Department’s 2009 Drama Festival
  • Broadway Theatre Art Academy’s 2009 Production of “A Christmas Carol”
  • Mira Mesa High School Drama Department’s 2010 Production of “A Delightful Quarantine”
  • Mira Mesa High School Drama Department’s 2010 Production of “HONK!”
  • Mira Mesa High School Drama Department’s 2010 Drama Festival
  • Mira Mesa High School Drama Department’s 2011 Production of “Aida”

PCTC had its first chance at producing, when they co-produced the 2009 MMHS vs. PCTC Improv Show, but it wasn’t until August 14th 2009, that PCTC premiered their very first sole production, 50 Minutes of Shakespeare.  50 Minutes, as it was duely nicknamed, was the collaborative effort of PCTC members; Andrew McAtee, Gustavo Garcia, Christopher Liang, Courtney Sluder and Brandon Sherman.  Their mission was to transform 4 Shakespeare shows into a 4 act show with comedic interpretations of each show, all with their own brand of comedy and a modern twist.  The show went off without a hitch.  The audiences that saw the show, praised it and said it was one of the funniest shows they had seen, and hoped to see more collaborative interpretations from PCTC members.

Following 50 Minutes, PCTC brought you “Breaking and Entering” in February of 2010, Yasmina Reza’s “ART” in July of 2010, then “Laughing Wild” in February of 2011.

With more shows in the works for the fall of 2011, PCTC’s future beyond that is in your hands, please become a member and make a difference today.
