Education and Outreach

Pacific Coast Theatre is a theatre committed to education.

With members sharing a firm history in the Mira Mesa and San Diego community, Pacific Coast Theatre was founded with the ideology of giving music, theatre, and dance students the possibility and outlet for their creative talent. Through productions, workshop, and coaching individualized to the levels and capabilities of their talent, PCTC teaches students skills ranging from acting, singing, dancing, to building sets and more, all with the focus on the love of their craft.

With the recent budget cuts in schools, help from local theatre groups is needed more than ever. We aim to bring a helping hand to schools through mentors and volunteers dedicating their time to art departments and programs. We currently have volunteers working in collaboration with the Mira Mesa High School Drama Department.

Our professional staff work with technical theatre students, assisting with a wide variety of skills from set design to lighting while our choreographer allows dance students to get out of their bodies and achieve new ideas, expression, and elegance through body movements.

We have a wonderful vocal and acting coach who helps students attain a higher level of creativity through performance skills that not only apply to a career in acting, but to the everyday person.

PCTC will be forming a high school improv group to help teach the art of improvisation to high school students throughout San Diego. Our improvisation staff will give bi-monthly workshops to the schools in our program, and monitor their progress with recommendations, games, and exercises for the team to practice on their own. Schools in the program will not only get one on one coaching from our excellent staff, but also have a chance to bring improv to their schools by creating their own improv team and host shows to present their talent to the school and community. The best part is that every show the students put on is a chance for the school to raise money for their drama department!
